Titulo del libro: Devlin, El Pirata: En Busca Del Oro De Los Franceses
Devlin, the pirate is the first installment of a series of historical novels of pirate adventures, set in the first third of the eighteenth century. Its protagonist, Patrick Devlin, is a young Irishman who after a miserable childhood and being sold by his father for four guineas, works as a servant of Captain John Coxon. When his ship is captured by pirates, they give him the opportunity to join them, and thus start a new life, brutal but with more freedom. Devlin will eventually become a pirate captain of the ship of his former owner, Coxon, who will do everything in his power to stop him. From the moment of its publication, debutant Mark Keating received praise from authors such as Saul David or Harry Sidebottom, as well as a good part of the specialized critics. The careful reproduction of the period, the vertiginous rhythm of the plot, the freshness of its style and the crude realism with which it portrays the life of the pirates are some of the aspects that have been repeated when referring to this first installment of a series very promising that combines the best virtues of Bernard Cornwell with those of Patrick OBrian.
